WOMEN’S STYLIST OF THE YEAR 2012

Tana Bennett has won Women’s Stylist of the year at the the English Hair and Beauty awards in Manchester.

It was a glittering event attended by lots of hairstylists from up and down the country. The event raised money for the ‘Katie Piper Foundation’ whom Tana and the team met. ‘She was a very humbling lady’.

Tana was overwhelmed to receive such an accolade, especially when men’s stylist of the year was won by Jamie Stevens, who has a celebrity client base and does the hair for X Factor. Tana has been in hairdressing for over twenty years gaining expertise and knowledge in her industry. Tana opened her salon in Sanderstead in 2008.

When she started she had one part time stylist and an apprentice. She now has a strong team of 11 who are all as committed and motivated as she is. ‘I believe the strength of the business has been through reinvesting in the business and the staff. We focus on giving a great customer experience! I passionately believe in learning all the time.

No matter how much you think you know there’s always more and all the team have continual training sessions whether it is in the salon or at an academy. Knowledge is key to be the best and that’s what we strive for. The Tana-B brand is about a quality product and result. We want to encourage the team to follow their dreams and aspirations and to believe in what they can achieve. Tana also added “It’s been great getting this accolade for doing something I really love and enjoy. Hairdressing is all about making people look and feel really great about themselves; it’s one of the most important styles we wear. I would really like to thank everyone who voted for us at the salon and myself. I know there are people out there in the industry that wrote some lovely things about me and who voted for me. I have a truly brilliant and loyal team of staff, we are like a family and I accept this award together with them as I really could not do what I do without the strong structure of great people around me. Many Thanks.’

GOLDWELL AND NICHOLAS OAKWELL SHOWCASE 70’S DECADENCE.

On Tuesday 26th June, British couturier Nicholas Oakwell once again invited Goldwell to create the hair alongside renowned session artist James Rowe, for his much anticipated Autumn/Winter couture show in Mayfair.

Goldwell-finalist-1he show took place in the breathtakingly beautiful Claridges hotel, with an array of stunning models dressed in sumptuous 70’s inspired couture tweed suits and gowns dripping with diamonds and sequins.

The models sashayed around leather couches and a grand piano, stopping every so often to take a seat and pose for the audience.

A host of fashion’s elite attended the show including fashion journalist Hilary Alexander and actress Olivia Grant.

The inspiration for the show came from the extravagant glamour of the 1970’s, with fabrics including fur, tweed, chiffon and tulle, embellished with beads, metallics and sequins.

Two talented stylists were invited by Goldwell to work backstage at this unique show.

Tana Bennett and Samie Merlino from Tana B Hair Company in South Croydon spent 6 hours working with head stylist James Rowe, creating the stunning 70’s inspired sleek vintage backward roll.

The stylists also teased out loose pieces at the front to frame the face and add softness to each model’s look.
